Massachusetts College Of Art Admission Tips

Getting into college has become a national obsession among teens and their parents, and it’s only getting more stressful

and competitive as colleges review more applications, raise tuitions, and set tougher admission standards. There's no

formula for getting into college. No combination of high-school courses will ensure your admittance into your dream

school. Standardized tests like the SAT and ACT also play a role, but your scores won't make or break your chances of

admittance. They simply help admissions officers put your high-school record into a national perspective.

Here are the top tips for acing the college admissions process and getting into the college of your dreams

  1. Don't wait until your senior year to start building your academic resume. Start early.
  2. Most colleges require two teacher recommendations and a school report completed by your counselor. Find the best recommenders and get your recommendation letters ready.
  3. Put together a packet with a cover letter, resume, and all of the forms needed to apply for the colleges.
  4. Don't break the bank by applying to hundred's of school. Make a top ten list sorted by priority and then apply to about five or six schools with a few true safety schools (including at least one public school) and a few reach schools.
  5. Write an essay that shows what makes you tick, be your true self. Do not write an essay that you think an admissions committee wants to read.
  6. Ask questions of your interviewer, you should approach the interview as a conversation. Treat it like a two-way street.
  7. Talk about your true passions to fill your time, be genuine don't fake to impress the interviewer. Of course be smart about choice of topic to discuss.
  8. Commonly missed opportunity is to not dress properly for your school tour. Dress to casually impress when you visit schools. You never know, you could meet your admissions officer or interviewers.
  9. An interviewer can easily spot exaggeration and insincerity, craft truthful and believable applications
  10. Work hard through the end of senior year — these grades can be critical for admissions so do not jeopardize your application.
  11. Ask the interviewer your questions about their schools, this help clear tension and build confidence. Most of the times they five you candid advice and tips to thrive at their school.
  12. Remember that the goal of this journey is to find the school where you can be yourself and thrive.
